Torus Breathing with the Chakras

Oct 01, 2026

There are recurring patterns we see everywhere in nature – spirals (tornadoes), branching (trees), waves (ocean!), geometric and crystalline forms. Those are energy templates that manifest in various densities and forms. Some are more free form, others are repetitive like the torus. It’s a complex series of interconnecting  circles surrounding a tubular central space constantly flowing, cycling endlessly. Lately I’ve been playing with this form as it relates to breath and the chakra system.

I’ve shared full-body exercises that are essentially a torus, creating a bridge between earth and sky - with us humans as connective tissue! The Hara, the Double Hara, the Soul Hara, the Fountain (and reverse Fountain) are all examples of that. These days, one or more of these are essential practices to stay grounded and aligned with our higher purpose.

This is something different. Most of us practice some kind of conscious breathing when needed, or on a regular basis. Breathing into a chakra is one of those techniques. Maybe you’ve played with different colors; gold, rose gold, silvery white and violet are good for bringing in higher frequencies. I use gold for torus breathing.

Torus Breathing

1) To start, breathe into the front of a chakra, then out the back side; the rear aspect of the chakras are so often neglected!

You can do this going from back to front too. This will clear the “root” of the chakra where it feeds into the midline (central channel) of the chakra system. Do this with one or more of chakras 2 through 6 (the ones located within the physical body.)

2) The next stage of practice is to bring the golden in-breath into the front and rear of the chakra at the same time, then up (or down) the midline to release the out-breath at the next chakra (both front and rear).

As the energy releases at the next chakra it cascades downward (or upward) to be breathed in again at the chakra where it started. The energy creates a circuit which grows stronger the more you do it.

Just like at the roots of the chakras, there can be some obstruction along the midline between the chakras. This helps clear and connect the whole system.

You can go through all five chakras, from one to the next moving upwards - or the opposite direction, from the top down. This takes awhile!

OR - you can focus on connecting and clearing between two chakras (they don’t have to be adjacent to each other.) I like doing the 6th (third eye) to the 4th (heart), alternating directions. Lately my mind has been more disturbed than usual, so I’ve been doing it between the 3rd (mind) and 4th (heart). If you are unsettled emotionally, try connecting the 2nd (emotion) with the 4th  and/or the 6th. (It helps to know your basic chakra qualities...)

3) The next level is where it gets trickier and requires some practice to do it with ease. Visualization is important, and remember the energy rides the breath! I will lose my rhythm and have to re-do or backtrack - but it’s all good.

Basically it’s the same thing, except now we’re going to expand that golden waterfall of energy into 360 degrees; it circulates back into the midline at the coupled chakras in a loop. You can visualize this as general energy, or as many lines coming into and out of the chakras - fanning out until there is a complete circlet around the midline. We are activating the full torus structure!

The torus first started showing up when I was energetically prepping a room for class. I ground the four corners, call in guides (those are interesting groups!) and then access a roof or tent-like structure above the classroom as a container (always different and interesting too).

After a few years of teaching I noticed there was a torus surrounding us; the open central space was in the middle of the circle where we sat. We were feeding the greater energetic grid with our intentions and efforts! The same thing happens when we do this individually,  and we are strengthening our connection with all that is. Together we are helping to create a new structure, a new reality for all of humanity to inhabit.

Peace, love and healing -

For a full body torus, try out this exercise. It's much easier and less complicated! The Fountain Exercise
