We’re being slammed these days! Between constant disturbances in the field - political and cosmic - and the upcoming holidays, it’s a lot. A great way to reset is returning to water; a bath, hot spring, or the literal ocean from which life first emerged. Since then we carry our liquid supply with us! Born with a body that is 98% fluid we don’t crawl out from the seas but are thrust out of the wet womb world. Current astrology is also calling us back to a gentle immersion, a deep water experience.
Amniotic fluid in the womb has a similar mineral composition as the ocean. Sea salt is rich in those minerals, which promote the healing of nicks, cuts, and wounds. It conditions and softens the skin and reduces inflammation. A salt bath will literally charge you up! Negative ions are created when salt is heated in water. The body is positively charged; when negative ions connect to the body, it reduces stress - a dynamic similar to a rain shower.
Most of us appreciate a soothing, refreshing hot bath. But did you know that with a few extra ingredients, a bath cleanses your energy field? I try to do this once a week; after I teach a class, it’s essential. Not that I’ve picked up any “bad energy” – energy is just energy – but there is an accumulation, an excess of energy in my auric field that needs to be discharged.
My bath time recipe:
1) Equal amounts of sea salt, or Epsom salt, and baking soda. One or two cups of each, depending on the size of the tub. Epsom salt is pure magnesium which is good for muscular aches and pains; magnesium is also important to the nervous system.
2) Sprinkle in some drops of your favorite essential oil (Frankincense is my go-to…)
3) Flowers, candles, etc – optional but nice!
You’ll definitely emerge renewed. Being in water is one of the great pleasures in life.
Water is sacred, and part of the origin story in many cultures. People have gone to special springs for curative purposes for thousands of years, along with ritual bathing and communal bathhouses.* Baths, hot springs, lakes, rivers, the ocean... water is the interface between matter and energy. They behave in similar ways as waves, spirals, flow and stillness. It’s why I teach Continuum Movement in my classes – returning to our fluid nature releases blockages.
Water is having a moment right now. This month and into early December there are planets in all 3 water signs. Jupiter is in Cancer, Mars is in Scorpio, and both Saturn and Neptune are in Pisces (the sign of the water-bearer.) Heightened emotional states are being called up with this powerful and rare Grand Water Trine. The November 20th new moon also adds to potent emotional tides.
The water element brings up strong feelings, increased intuition and powerful memories. There's an internal focus on relationships - repairing bonds, coming to terms with losses, or rekindling love. It's an opportunity for profound healing (or maybe to just get comfortable with feeling more.)
Take a deep dive to release and renenergize yourself right now. We need to sustain ourselves for what the long haul holds. Remember we’re always supported by the basics of life – breath, water, and movement.
Peace, love and healing -
