Sirius, the brightest star in our sky (and the closest to earth) is named the “Dog Star” after its home constellation. It’s been known and revered across many ancient cultures. Especially so in Egypt, where its appearance in early July signaled the growing season and the annual flooding of the Nile. Sirius rises along with the sun in the astrological sign of Leo on August 8th. Called the Lion’s Gate portal, that’s when a peak “flood” of energy arrives for growth and nurturance.
In numerology 8 is a powerful karmic number, balancing the material and spiritual worlds with a focus on achievement and abundance. In the Major Arcana of Tarot, 8 represents strength and resilience. Harnessing inner fortitude and overcoming adversity with composure (not a small feat.) It is literally the sign for infinity…
Leo is the astrological sign of the lion; bold, powerful and heart-centered. Lion in the “Wizard of Oz” is looking outside himself for courage; and it was, like all gifts, inherent within. The whole celestial gathering over these few days is supercharged by a full moon in Aquarius on August 9th. A beneficial grand trine with Mars, Uranus and Pluto - inspiring us to take conscious, compassionate action - is another strong influence.
Sirius has many other fascinating aspects. The bright Sirius is a binary star, and blue. It’s orbited by Sirius B, a white dwarf star. In Hopi prophecy, the Blue Star Kachina (Sirius?) is a final sign of the 4th World ending, and the 5th World (dimension) beginning.
It’s especially noted now because late July was the “end” of the Mayan calendar. A Vedic Yuga just ended as well (broken up into 3,000-year “bite-sized” segments.) It all suggests we're at our lowest point of consciousness in an evolutionary cycle. Every ending sets the stage for a beginning. While it's an upward trend, these cycles span many human lifetimes!
Another backstory - the Dogon people, who migrated to West Africa from Egypt, believe thousands of years ago visitors from Sirius came to them as galactic teachers. Before it was scientifically observable they knew that Sirius had a dwarf star accompanying it (and claim that there is a third star, as yet undetected by modern science.)
It’s truly humbling to think of our individual lives in such epic time frames (although in a 5th dimensional awareness more - most? - of us will be experiencing multiple lives and timelines!) Still… we are stardust…
As we move through the extraordinary cosmic alignments of 2025 and 2026… into 2032, and beyond - pace yourself. You may have uplifting, or less pleasant symptoms during these influxes of energy, but they don't indicate your level of enlightenment or “frequency". Be kind to yourself, and others. We all have TIME.
